saving my life: hope.

{photo by Molly Michel}

This week has been good. Like everyone else I know, I entered the month of May with trepidation. I knew there would be trips out of town, deadlines at work, and events scheduled nearly every week. May is spring’s December, and I was afraid I might lose myself in the shuffle.

Instead, I am finding myself again. May has not failed to be busy, even a little chaotic, but somehow, it is saving me from the sadness and frustration that was April. I am seeing a break in the clouds, and I am happy and hopeful.

Already this month, Jordan and I have been on vacation together (our second annual trip to New Orleans’ JazzFest) and begun our search for a rental home. We’ve watched a dear friend get married and another one receive her hard-earned master’s degree. We’ve celebrated mother’s day with the women who have handed us their legacies, and we have whispered to each other how grateful we are for our marriage. This week, Kelle Hampton came to my book club (via Skype, so that counts, right?), and some friends and I went out to honor their birthdays. Together, we talked about friendship and moving and weddings and life, and it was beyond wonderful.

Last month was hard. You already know that. I want to tell you that this month, while far from perfect, has been a reminder that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it’s the hope of a month of “no,” or maybe it’s just getting perspective and healing, but I’m getting excited. I'm anticipating greatness.

Summer is around the corner, and with it will come good things. I can feel it, and that’s what’s saving my life today.

What an encouraging breath of fresh air! Hooray for a wonderful May so far... don't you think it's all about being intentional - no matter how busy we are, as long as we are intentional about NOT loosing touch, NOT getting overwhelmed, NOT letting the important things get lost in the shuffle...that makes all the difference!

I love that... awaiting greatness. I'm sure it will come. :)
