a weekend in seaside.

 {seaside, winter 2010. all b+w shots due to overexposed photos and lots of sunshine.}

I'm not going to say that I had an epiphany this weekend and that all of a sudden, my funk has dissipated. But there are days when things just start to become a little bit more clear. And if there's one thing I know from spending 20-some-odd years in Florida, it's to head to the water.

So Saturday, to celebrate Jordan's 25th birthday, we drove out to Seaside. We wandered little streets, spent time in a local bookstore, ate delicious food, and breathed in the salt air.

And I felt better almost instantly.

Spending time together, just the two of us, in creation, was just what the doctor ordered.

I still don't have things figured out. There is a haze still floating around in this brain of mine, but I know: Stopping won't help things. Curling up in a ball and watching Friends reruns won't cure what's ailing me (permanently, anyway). But going on road trips and buying Christmas gifts and -- this is the big one -- stepping outside of myself? That will help.

Maybe this "quarterlife crisis" (if that is indeed what I'm muddling through) is meant to reinforce the idea that life is not about me. It's about waking up each day and deciding that I'm going to give this life and the people in it the very best I've got.

If all that fails, well... I learned long ago that the water does indeed have healing powers.

I love the pictures! I'm glad you had a good time. I feel like I need to escape somewhere with Collin for a day to just forget about all the stress in my life right now also. We have some beaches farily close, it's too bad though that it's too chilly to enjoy them up here in Maryland. =/ I do love going to the beach. You are so very right, water does have healing powers!

amen to all of it. love the b&w photos of your and your hubby & love that you love the ocean soothed whatever is ailing your heart. and i had to chuckle a little bit because when i'm in funks i'm definitely tempted to curl up in a ball and watch friends (or the office). numbing for a bit, but never changes anything. glad you were able to get out & hoping the funk stays away.

b) i love this. thanks for sharing your heart.
c) the ocean brings out the best in me. i feel like i'm a part of something bigger than myself when i'm there. everything else seems to fade and there we are. just me, the sun, the sand and the salty sea.

This post confirms one thing: you are gorgeous. Inside and out. :) I get the funk thing. I tend to hibernate too when I'm in a funk but I think that just aggravates the problem. Way to get out and take in some fresh air!
