lazy blogging.

{seaside 2011}

In the past few days, I've

- cleaned out a closet
- planted an herb garden (and a lemon tree)
- met a friend for coffee
- hosted an oscar party
- done five loads of laundry
- watched some law and order: svu
- read one thousand gifts (only two more chapters to go)
- bought the much-wanted pair of trouser jeans
- begun to eliminate sugar from my diet (i.e., I ate two cookies instead of five. Lent doesn't start until next week, folks)
- hung a new picture in our home
- dreamed about days spent at the beach
- watered our new lemon tree
- eaten a black bean salad
- sat quietly in the sun
- made an omelet
- listened to a sermon on creativity
- edited until my eyes bleed
- fallen asleep on the couch at 7:30

I guess what I'm trying to say is: I've been living my life instead of writing for the blog.

Which is okay, right? Soon I'll be writing posts about gardening and creating and planning and listening and grace-giving and sugar-fasting...

But for now, just know: Life is good. Busy, but this time with all the right kinds of things. I look at every single thing on that list and smile.

Yep, life is good.

I came across One Thousand Gifts in the book store the other day and decided to give it a go. I'm only about two chapters in and I am *struggling.* Did you find it difficult to follow at times in the beginning?

And by giving up sugar you just mean everything except natural sugar - like in fruit? So everything that is refined or made with sugar is given up?

I never know where to answer blog questions, so I'm emailing and answering here! :)

@Megan: Ann's writing is really poetic, but I think if you give it some time, you'll get used to it. Maybe try reading her blog first? It took me a few pages, but now I'm really loving -- and learning from -- her book.

@mackie: That's right. I'll definitely still be eating natural sugars... I have a feeling fruit is going to become my saving grace!

That is so okay. I am taking the entire weekend off to relax and turn off ALL technology. And I'm pretty freaking excited about it. And way to give up sugar for Lent! Very impressed. Maybe I'll just give up dessert. That's more attainable for me (meaning I can have some dark chocolate squares if I feel like I might eat the world). Good luck!

ps. I. Hate. Laundry. Even reading that sentence made me cringe.
