A minor obsession with Norah Ephron films may be to blame, but every year about this time I start to crave New York: the chilly weather, the hustle and bustle that comes with living in a larger city, the snow, the sparkling of lights, quirky friends, dinner parties, ice skating in Rockefeller Plaza.
Basically, I get a little heartsick for New England (yes, all of New England) and all my imagination thinks that entails.
To cope with our time apart, I'm going to dress in heavy coats, scarves, and boots. I'm going to order hot chocolate and take long wintry walks in the park with Jordan. I'm going to look in shop windows downtown (even if they're empty) and eat at nice restaurants. I'm going to listen to jazz music and pretend I'm good at ice skating. My imagination, I have long known, can get me through just about anything. And as I look outside at the chilly blue Florida sky, I know: if the girl can't be in New England, bring New England to the girl.
Here's to a weekend filled with all sorts of wintry things.

It sounds like you have a plan- bring New England to you!
p.s. New England isn't very New England-y right now- unlike Seattle, we haven't had any snow yet! (At least in this part- up north is a different story.)
Oh my goodness I am SO with you on the Nora Ephron thing. I might get me some You've Got Mail tonight!
I have to say that as hard as it was to be away from my lovies, it was an amazing time to by in NYC this week. no snow though.
Oh heyyyy! The picture! I want to go to downtown Homewood (a suburb/town of Birmingham) and do the exact same thing.
i will make sure to enjoy new york just for you (and hopefully post a few more pictures along the way).
This picture is so so beautiful! WOW!
