move over, oprah.

 {from here}

We had our last book club of the year (um, 2011? yeah, you can come any old time), so I thought it would be appropriate to recap our selections for the year.

Our book club meets on a monthly (every four to six weeks) basis; we rotate houses, and the hostess selects three books that we all vote on via email. It’s been a great system, and it gives everybody a chance to select the genre of books that they prefer. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Book club is one of my favorite things. Beats grad school any day of the week. Maybe I’ll just start movie, cooking, and craft clubs, and my desire for higher education will be gone completely.

Book Club Selections, Year 2

January:
The Likeness by Tana French (Annie)

February/March:
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton (Rachel)

April:

May:
Every Boy's Got One by Meg Cabot (Julie)

June:
The Help by Kathryn Stockett (Julianne)

July:
The Book of Bright Ideas by Sandra Kring (Mandy)

August:
The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly (Kim)

September:
Get Lucky by Katherine Center (Lara)

October/November:
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (Kristen)

December:
Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris (Annie)

Yep, I like book club: It’s consistent; everyone participates, and now I finished 2010 having read 10 books I probably wouldn’t have read otherwise. (My favorite? The Help. My least favorite? Get Lucky.)

Now I want to know: What books should be on our list for 2011? Fill me in.

I just love that you have book club!
And The Help is one of my books to finally read over this Christmas break (it's been sitting on my shelf for months).
I bought it because the author went to my college! But I've heard so many good things about it!

So cool that you have a book club. I loved The Help and want to read The Book of Lost Things. Have you read other books by Meg Cabot? I've liked almost all of hers.

Great blog! Excited to be a new follower :)
