party inspiration: happy 25.

 {image from the fabulous Rue magazine.}

Okay, so maybe I’m kind of, sort of already envisioning my 25th birthday party. Which, yes, I realize is four months away. But 25 is a big year. I have very high hopes for it, and I want to ring it in right.

Here’s the thing: for some reason, I keep envisioning this rather raucous dance party atmosphere in some high-rise loft, complete with disco balls and glitter everywhere. This is unrealistic for several reasons, the foremost of which is I can’t dance. Also, I was born in February, which, even in Florida, is pretty chilly. So some outdoor dance party on top of someone’s roof is kind of out of the question.

I’m convinced, though, that 25 only happens once. And the truth is, surely 25 marks the age where you just don’t care what other people think anymore. And if I want to have a semi-raucous dance party with glitter and confetti everywhere, well, why not?

So, let the planning begin. I’m not sure where it will take me. By the time January rolls around, I may have become completely apathetic towards the whole thing. (Or, at the very least, become a little bit more realistic.) But this week, I’ve got images of sparkles and sequins dancing in my head, and I’m going to share my inspiration with you.

Let’s party like it’s 1999.

To all of you who are thinking: "Isn't Jordan's 25th birthday in November?" the answer is yes. And I'm not completely selfish and inane; I'm working on it. His feelings are hurt, but I'm sure he'll recover.
